Professional Background
Julia has extensive experience representing both national and multinational business groups in matters such as tax assessments, denied refund claims, suspension of tax collection, challenges to the constitutionality of tax laws, interpretation of tax provisions—including double tax treaties—as well as in handling and defending tax and customs audits. Her combined public and private sector background provides her with a comprehensive perspective for developing strategic defense approaches, allowing her to advise companies both preventively and throughout audit processes, with a strong focus on tax controversy and litigation.
With over 25 years of experience, she spent nearly five years at Mexico’s Tax Administration Service (SAT) within the Central Administration for Domestic Tax Regulation. She also worked for over six years at a highly regarded tax advisory firm in Mexico, and for the past 12 years, she has led the Tax Controversy and Litigation practice at Skatt.
